Chittor, June 27: In a shocking incident, a 35-year-old farm worker committed suicide after killing his two daughters at Kuppam today.
K Venkatesh used to quarrel with his wife Lakshmi (27) frequently for giving birth to two daughters Pavitra (9) and Shanta (3).
Following a quarrel with his wife on Wednesday night, Venkatesh hit Lakshmi with a pestle resulting in her instantaneous death. Later, he fled by taking his two daughters with him.
After registering a murder case, the police were on the look out for Venkatesh. After pushing his two daughters before a running train, he also threw himself under it near Kuppam railway station.
Some passersby alerted the railway police on seeing three bodies on the tracks, nearly 2 km from the station.
The railway police said Venkatesh might have committed suicide along with his two daughters in the early hours of the day. A case was registered. The bodies were shifted to PES Medical College Hospital for postmortem. Heart rending scenes were witnessed at the mortuary with Venkatesh’s mother and other relatives sobbing inconsolably.
