Man who stole Rs 40K, iPad of Delhi Metro pax held

New Delhi: A man, who had allegedly stolen Rs 40,000 cash and an iPad of a Delhi Metro commuter a fortnight ago, was today apprehended by an alert CISF jawan who noticed him again roaming in the station area over the CCTV.

Officials identified the pick pocket as N Ansari and said he had stolen a lady passenger’s bag on December 21 last year from a station on the airport line of the Metro.

The lady, apart from informing the CISF, had lodged a police FIR stating that her bag containing Rs 40,000 and an iPad was pick pocketed by someone.

“CISF constable Sunil Lanka had saved the CCTV grab of Ansari on his terminal since that day and today when he saw him roaming at a station, he immediately rushed in and grabbed him.

“Ansari was questioned by senior CISF officials about the said theft and he accepted that he pick-pocketed the bag. He was later handed over to the police for further probe even as the said lady passenger has also been informed,” they said.
