Sitapur: A man and his sister-in-law were shot dead by unidentified persons allegedly over a land dispute while they were returning home after attending a court hearing in Pisavan area here, police said today.
Subeydaar (45) and his cousin’s wife Madhuri (55) were yesterday gunned down by two unidentified persons, they said.
Madhuri was a widow and close to Subeydaar. After the death of her husband, she had transferred all her land in the name of Subeydaar’s grandson, police said, adding one of her husband’s relatives had objected to the land transfer and moved court against it.
The family members of Subeydaar lodged a complaint against two of Madhuri’s relatives — Nandlal and Mohanlal — following which an FIR was registered against them, police said.
