Man shot dead in Delhi court

New Delhi: A man facing trial for cheating was shot dead in a court complex here on Monday, police said. The accused was quickly overpowered and arrested.
This is the fourth such shooting in three years in the Rohini court in west Delhi, according to the Rohini Bar Association.
Vinod, 31, was shot dead while being taken back to the Tihar Jail. The killer, Abdul Khan, was overpowered and arrested by the police.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Rishi Pal said Vinod, a resident of Mangolpuri who was in jail for a seven-year-old cheating case, was shot on a corridor near the court canteen at around 11.20 a.m.
Though Vinod was rushed to a hospital, he was declared dead by doctors. A country-made gun used by Khan, a resident of Nangloi, was recovered, police said.
Pal told IANS that only one shot was fired and added that the accused doesn’t have any criminal history. He said police had not ascertained the reason behind the murder.
He said police were also looking into security lapses in the incident. The Rohini Bar Association criticised the lack of adequate security arrangements in the court premises.
