Man scales cellphone tower in support of Jagan

Hyderabad, September 08: A 45-year-old supporter of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy scaled a cellphone tower near Kushaiguda on Monday morning demanding that the Kadapa
MP be made chief minister, but gave up his novel protest after 15 minutes.

Malla Reddy, 45, of Moula Ali Housing Board, who runs a magazine `Reddynadu Patrika’, is a die-hard fan of late chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. After YSR’s sudden death, he wants the Congress high command to anoint YS Jaganmohan Reddy as the chief minister.

To convey his wish to the Congress high command, at about 9.30 am, Mall Reddy scaled a BSNL cellphone tower at HCL compound near Ashok Nagar X Roads near Kushaiguda.

After scaling the tower, Reddy shouted slogans in support of Jagan and local people gathered around the tower. Meanwhile, the word got to the police, and they reached the spot immediately.

Police sent a mediator to talk to Malla Reddy, who managed to convince him to disembark from the tower.

The mediator, who is a local person, told Malla Reddy that Jagan had already appealed to people not to resort to any such attempts. “Malla Reddy thought for a while and got down from the tower after 15 minutes,” Kushaiguda inspector K Venkat Reddy said.

No case was registered against Malla Reddy.
