Hyderabad, August 06: A white tiger at the Nehru Zoological Park bit off a major chunk of the right hand of a drunken man who tried to take take a snap of the Tiger and later offering the grass. Ramesh Kumar, the relative of a zoo worker, lost almost the entire flesh on his hand in the struggle to extricate it from the tiger’s mouth.
Police rushed him to the Osmania General Hospital where doctors had to completely reconstruct his arm since all the connecting tissues at various places had got torn off. “His condition is very critical because of heavy bleeding and severe injuries,” said Dr Manohar of the OGH.
Ramesh Kumar, a native of West Godavari district, visited the zoo at 5 pm on Wednesday along with his friend Satish of Tandur. “He was drunk and put his right arm in the enclosure of the white tiger a few moments after zoo workers fed it and locked the enclosure,” said one of the zoo officials. “The tiger grabbed and bit his hand and trampled on it. All the flesh was gone.”
Several visitors including foreign tourists watched in horror as Mr Ramesh Kumar struggled with the angry animal. The Bhadurpura POlice told this that the victim of the tiger attack had been booked under Section 38 of the Animal Protection Act, apart from Section 448 of IPC (trespass).
