Man lies about child being kidnapped to get stolen car back quicker

Washington, March 08: A Man tried to get his stolen car back faster by telling police his nephew was inside it, MyFox National reports.

Police in Houston, Texas, were told the boy, named as six-year-old Kevin Williams, was sleeping in the backseat of the car when two armed suspects carjacked his uncle early Sunday.

The Houston man’s lie sparked an Amber Alert – a child abduction bulletin for northern American media, originally named for a nine-year old girl abducted and murdered in Texas in 1996.

A Houston Police department spokesman said the man later admitted that he lied about the abduction in order to get his car back more quickly.

The car has not yet been recovered and the police will meet with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office later this week to discuss filing charges against the boy’s uncle.
