New Delhi, May 18: A man smothered his wife to death after they quarrelled over a domestic issue and fled from the house, police said Tuesday.
“Samidah, 22, wife of Rabbani, was found dead in her house at Welcome area (in east Delhi) Tuesday morning and the couple’s two-year-old son Rehan was crying in front of his dead mother,” said a senior police officer.
The crime was discovered after a neighbour informed the Police Control Room.
Police found that Samidah was smothered to death with a pillow. “After questioning the family members of the victim and neighbours, we found that her husband committed the crime,” said the the officer.
Police said that there were some domestic issues between the couple which led to the woman’s murder.
Rehan was handed over to Rabbani’s father, who resides nearby. Rabbani is still absconding and a search is on for him, said the officer.
