A 27-year-old woman was smothered to death allegedly by her husband when she failed to get more dowry from her parents.
According to Neredmet police, the victim, P Srikala, was killed allegedly by her husband Srikanth on Sunday night. He smothered her to death while she was asleep at her residence in Kakatiya Nagar.
Srikala was married to Srikanth in 2007 and they couple had two children. At the time of marriage, Rs 2.5 lakh cash, 10 tolas of gold and other household articles were given towards dowry. However, Srikanth was harassing Srikala demanding an additional dowry of Rs 2 lakh.
The Neredmet police had registered a case of murder and dowry harassment under Sections 302 and 498 A against Srikanth, who has reportedly surrendered before the police on Monday. (INN)
