Man kills wife for family honour in Pak’s Karachi city

Karachi: Local officials have said that a 35-year-old mother of three was stabbed to death by her husband, who had also killed his first wife around 14 years ago on the pretext of family honour.

The police said that Rahim Daad killed Farzana on Wednesday inside their home in the Metroville area of SITE. He was later arrested with a knife from his possession, reports the Dawn.

Senior Superintendent of Police Investigations West Zone, Akhtar Farooq, said the suspect stabbed his wife repeatedly before slitting her throat.

He added that Daad during initial interrogation confessed of killing his wife on the pretext of honour.

The police quoting the suspect said that he saw his wife preparing to leave home after she didn’t want to stay with him any longer.

In the ensuing scuffle, he took out the knife and stabbed her in the abdomen and then slit her throat.

The suspect had in the past also killed his first wife, a mother of three, citing that she too had shamed the family, the police added.

Meanwhile, the police decided to add Section 311 to the FIR against the suspect besides Section 302 (murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code in order to make the offence non-compoundable. (ANI)
