New Delhi: A 12-year-old boy was killed allegedly by his step-father in west Delhi’s Nihal Vihar area, apparently in a fall-out of a husband-wife tiff, police said today.
According to police, the incident took place on Thursday night after Sewa Ram had an argument with his wife Vidya. The woman refused to accompany him to his native village for her son Vishwajit whose examination is scheduled in coming days.
Sewa Ram brought a knife from the kitchen and hit Vishwajit on his face. By the time Vidya could raise an alarm, Sewa Ram fled the scene and could not be tracked till this evening.
Vidya then fell unconscious and it was the neighbours who informed the police. Vishwajit was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries in the wee hours yesterday.
Sewa Ram, is still at large and a police team has been formed to nab him. A case of murder has been registered in connection with the incident, a senior police official said.
Vidya is in a state of shock and her statement could not be recorded till today evening. Vishwajit was Vidya’s son with her former husband. Vidya married Sewa Ram around nine years ago, police said.
