Abu Dhabi, June 20: A brawl between two drunken friends in Mussafah in Abu Dhabi led to a murder when one tried to advise the other not to drink too much.
Major Juma Al Ka’abi, head of homicide unit, Criminal Investigation Department, Abu Dhabi Police, said a caller alerted the Musafah Police Station about a murder at a construction site in Mohammed bin Zayed City.
Police found the body of an Indian worker, 24, on the ground, with deep multiple stab wounds in the stomach. A knife was also found near him. Investigations led them to arrest an Indian electrician, 34, with whom the victim had been.
He confessed to have killed the man. He said that he and his friend went to another friend’s residence to have alcohol but on their way back home, he advised his friend not to drink too much, which turned into an argument. The situation went out of control, and insults and bad words were exchanged.
He claimed that the deceased had dragged him out of the car, hit him several times and broke his teeth. The latter then rushed into the kitchen and got hold of a knife, with which he stabbed him.
