Man kills former staff over Rs600

Mumbai, October 20: A 24-year-old man was killed allegedly by his former employer on Sunday morning because the victim, a zari worker, could not pay off Rs 600 he had borrowed from the latter.

Police said the deceased, Irshad Shaikh, 24, a resident of Malwani, had taken Rs1,200 from Guddu Ansari, 34. He returned Rs600 and left his job. But he could not pay the remaining amount because he could not get a new job.

Senior inspector Jaywant Hargude of the Malwani police station said: “On Sunday, Ansari called Shaikh at his workshop in the same area and asked about his money. Shaikh told him he would return the amount after getting another job. But Ansari was very angry with Shaikh because he had left his workshop. The two entered into an argument and subsequently into a fight. Soon, Ansari’s wife Ayesha and his two relatives, Imanu and Osama, joined him and beat up Shaikh.”

Shaikh was badly injured and he was rushed to Bhagwati Hospital where he died due to internal injuries.

The Malwani police have arrested Ansari and his wife Ayesha and the two relatives.
