Man kills colleague for not repaying Rs 150

Coimbatore, September 03: An 18-year-old youth was murdered in Neelambur in the city over 150 which he had borrowed from a colleague at work and could not return in time.

The victim, identified as K Shyam Babu, was working at PSG Foundry near Coimbatore Airport. He was roughed up by co-worker T Samareesh Kumar (19) on Thursday who punched him severely on his abdomen. Shyam Babu suffered internal bleeding and he was declared brought dead to the Government General Hospital here.

Both the victim and accused hail from Vaishali district in Bihar. According to police, Shyam borrowed 150 from Samareesh two weeks ago but the former failed to repay it in time. They worked in the same molding section of the foundry and were staying in a common room at Neelambur. On Thursday, Samareesh wanted the money back but Shyam wanted more time to repay it. A verbal quarrel ensued between the two and it eventually ended in a brutal attack.

“A verbal quarrel over a petty issue turned violent. We have arrested Samaresh and he has been remanded in judicial custody,” said Sulur police inspector V Jayachandran.
