Man killed in truck accident

NEW DELHI: A 40-year-old man died as a truck hit him while he was allegedly being chased by police in northeast Delhi’s Wazirabad early today.

The deceased was identified as Sushil Kumar Mishra, a Begampur resident.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the man was being chased by traffic policemen but the cops denied any such incident.

Police said they have been told by people about it.

They said they are probing the matter and trying to ascertain the identity of those who were running after Mishra.

Senior officials from the district said that the policemen were not from northeast district.

The accident happened around 12.30 AM at the foot of the Wazirabad Bridge while Mishra was on its way towards Khajuri Khas.

He crossed over to the other side and was run over by a truck, police said.

It has been found that Mishra was not driving any vehicle. The truck was found abandoned and the driver is absconding.
