Palghar:A 25-year-old man was killed allegedly by his wife and her teenaged brother over a dispute, following which the woman was apprehended, police said today.
The deceased, Ajay Pathak, and his wife Nita, from Nalasopara, frequently quarrelled over petty issues. They had a four-year-old son, Police Inspector of Tulinj Police Station, Kailas Barve told PTI.
“There was a quarrel over sending their son to Nita’s parents. Following this, last night Nita and 16-year-old brother allegedly attacked Ajay with a sharp-edged object and hit him on the head. Ajay died on the spot,” said the officer.
As per Barve, they initially informed police that Ajay died due to Tuberculosis but later claimed that he committed suicide.
The police sent his body for postmortem and after receipt of the report, a case under relevant sections of the IPC was registered against Nita yesterday.
Nita was apprehended today while her brother has been sent to the remand home at Bhiwandi in Thane district.
