Man killed during firing at wedding party

NEW DELHI: A man was killed while another one got injured after an inebriated 27-year-old man opened fire during his cousin’s wedding in west Delhi’s Nangloi area.

The incident took place on December 14.

Dharmenda, son of a retired Delhi Police personnel, entered the function after drinking for several hours. He was accompanied by two others, police said.

While the other two men stopped, Dharmendra kept firing in the air and later aimed at those who were washing dishes, police said.

Mohammad Yousuf (50), who used to clean dishes at wedding celebrations, was working at the tent house, said a senior police officer. He was hit by the bullet at the back of his head while he was washing dishes.

One of his co-workers, Kashif, was also injured in the incident.

They were admitted to a hospital, from where they were shifted to RML Hospital.

Yousuf succumbed during treatment last night, they added. Kashif’s condition is stable for now.

Dharmendra and his accomplices fled from the party but were held on December 16.

Police has also booked the party organiser.

Police will be questioning Dharmendra’s father to know the source of the weapon, that has now been seized.
