Man jailed for 10 yrs for raping, trafficking 3 girls

A man has been sent to 10 years in jail by a Delhi court for trafficking and procuring three girls, including minors, for prostitution and raping them after enticing them to come with him to the national capital.

Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja passed the sentence on Izraful Sanfui, who hails from West Bengal, after holding that the charges against him had been proved by the evidence and the statements of the victims.

“I have considered the submissions made… I find that the evidence in this case has brought to light a frightening tale of human trafficking of three girls, two of them being under 18 years of age. The victims were trafficked, raped and confined by (Sanfui),” the judge said.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convict and directed that the same be equally distributed amongst the three victims as compensation. It also recommended that they be further compensated under the provisions of CrPC.

According to the prosecution, Sanfui had abducted the girls last year on June 18 from their native village. While he assured two of the girls that he would find them jobs, the third he had promised to marry, it was stated.

“The victims also deposed before court that they were raped by the accused several times at… Sangam Vihar here where they were kept in forcible confinement by him,” the court said, adding that he also used to beat them with iron pipes and wooden sticks.

The prosecution said that after bringing the girls to Delhi, Sanfui sold them off to Bilal and his wife Anjali, a duo who are absconding and have been declared proclaimed offenders.

The girls told police that the couple locked them up in a room and used to force them to establish physical relations with several persons. Upon their refusing to do so, they were subjected to thrashings.

On June 24, 2012, as Sanfui and Bilal were taking one of the girls to sell her off, she saw policemen on the road and pleaded for help. Sanfui was then caught by police although Bilai managed to escape. The other two girls were also rescued thereafter.

Sanfui was convicted for the offences of rape, kidnapping, buying minors for purpose of prostitution and wrongful confinement under the provisions of IPC and the Juvenile Justice Act.
