Man hurt as gun goes off accidentally

Hyderabad, January 20: A manager of a private transport company suffered bullet injury after the revolver of a person, who visited the transport office, went off accidentally this afternoon.

According to police, Naresh Gupta runs Expressway Roadways Private Limited at Auto Nagar and his son, Vivek Gupta, looks after the transport company.

Naresh developed friendship with one Suchar Singh, hailing from Punjab and living at Sahara Estates in the city. Police said Suchar Singh came to the transport company to meet his friend this afternoon. Vivek was in the office when Suchar Singh came and both began talking.

“After a few minutes, Suchar Singh removed his .32 licenced revolver from his pocket and was about to place it on the table when it went off accidentally,’’ Vanasthalipuram police said. The bullet pierced through the partition of the cabin and hit Navin Jaiswal, manager of the company who was having lunch along with other workers.

The bullet pierced through Navin Jaiswal’s abdomen and he was immediately shifted to a private hospital at LB Nagar. Doctors removed the bullet from the abdomen.

Police said Suchar Singh carried a 8 mm revolver also apart from the .32 revolver. Singh was having all India licence for both the weapons. A commission agent from Jalandhar in Punjab, Suchar Singh bought the weapons as he was having land disputes with a person. Police seized the .32 licenced revolver and some live rounds of ammunition from Singh.
