Barasat, April 15: One person was today arrested for allegedly hurling stones at the cars of two union ministers at trouble-torn Sasan in North 24 Parganas district.
The youth had pelt stones at the vehicles of Minister of State (MoS) for Shipping Mukul Roy and Mos Tourism Sultan Ahmed last afternoon, Additional SP Narendranath Banerjee said, adding, Roy”s security guard was injured and the car”s wind shield was broken.
However, the accused did not figure in the FIR lodged after the incident. The two senior Trinamool Congress (TC) leaders were on a visit to Sasan following armed clashes between CPIM and TC on Tuesday in which two persons were killed and five injured.
A group of CPIM supporters had blocked the cars of the two ministers accusing them of making provocative statements. Sasan had been on boil for some time since last year”s Lok Sabha elections with the Trinamool making inroads into the erstwhile Marxist citadel.
