Man held for ‘raping’ 20-year-old

Mumbai, September 03: Kandivli police on Tuesday arrested a 35-year-old man who had gone missing after getting a 20-year-old pregnant by luring her with the promise of marriage. The accused, Prakash Baburao Chabukswar, hails from Aurangbad.

According to police, the victim had registered a complaint with the police against Chabukswar a few months ago, alleging that he didn’t fulfill the commitment of marrying her, based on which she had entered into a relationship with him, said senior police inspector Surendra Jaiswal.

The victim and Chabukswar used to work at the same place on daily wages. “Chabukswar got the victim to enter into a relationship and promised to marry her. He even rented a place at Ganesh Nagar in Kandivali to live with her,” said Jaiswal.
Then one day, when the victim reached home, she found the door locked and Chabukswar missing. “In the mean time, the victim was informed by a doctor that she was four-months pregnant and could not abort the baby,” said Jaiswal.

After learning about the pregnancy, the victim called Chabukswar’s Aurangabad residence number. The call was answered by a young girl, who turned out to be his daughter. “When she learnt that he was already married with three kids, she decided to lodge a complaint with the police,” said Jaiswal.

On June 4, the victim gave birth to a baby girl and now wants to teach the accused a lesson. “We have booked Chabukswar under section 376 (A) of the IPC and will be presenting him before the local court. We have sent his and the baby’s blood samples to the Nagpada police hospital for DNA analysis,” saidJaiswal.
