Mumbai, March 19: The husband of a woman, whose body was found in a suitcase at a railway station here was arrested Saturday, an official said. The man was said to be having an affair with another woman and had planned with his brothers to kill his wife.
The woman, said to be from West Bengal, was residing with her husband Parvez in Mumbra of central Mumbai. Identified as Rehmat, she was pregnant when found dead late Monday night at Sandhurst Road railway station.
“We have arrested Parvez today (Saturday). We also arrested his two brothers Tabrez and Hashib last (Friday) night,” said Bapu Thombre, assistant commissioner of police, Government Railway Police (GRP).
Another GRP official said Parvez was a doctor and was having marital problems with Rehmat. Parvez, also said to be having an affair with another woman, had planned with his brothers to kill Rehmat.
“After having strangulated Rehmat late Monday, Parvez stuffed her body in a suitcase and told his brothers to dispose off the body. His brothers dumped the suitcase at Sandhurst Road station as there were very few people around,” the official added.
