New Delhi: A man accused of killing a nephew of former RJD MP Mohammad Shahbuddin over a property dispute in Bihar was arrested here last week, a police officer said Monday.
“Mohammad Qayyum, 53, a resident of Bihar’s Siwan, was arrested by a team of Crime Branch headed by ACP Sandeep Lamba on March 22 following a tip off when he was hiding at Batla House in south Delhi,” DCP Rajesh Deo said.
According to Deo, Qayyum, who used to run a mobile shop in Siwan, had, along with his other accomplices Mohd Kaif, Raunak, Islam, Maqbool and Sandeep, killed Yusuf, the former MP’s nephew, on February 1 over a property dispute in Hussain Ganj
“The accused persons had hatched a consiracy to eliminate Yusuf. They visited his house and asked him to accompany them to a party as per the plan. They later gunned down him and dumped his body near a mosque in Siwan,” he added.
The Bihar Police had earlier managed to arrest the other five but Qayyum had escaped and was hiding in the national capital, he added.
