Lucknow, April 25: A man was held with gold and diamond jewellery worth several crore rupees by the Income Tax department at Amausi International Airport here, official sources said today.
Lalta Prasad was intercepted by the I-T sleuths at the airport late last night after he deboarded a flight from Delhi and 9.7 kilogram gold jewellery was recovered from his possession, they said.
Lalta, who claims to be an employee of a Varanasi-based jeweller, failed to give satisfactory answers when questioned about the ornaments he was carrying, the sources said.
