New Delhi, July 09: A man was arrested in the national capital for duping a Punjab man with a fake Canadian visa, police said Saturday.
‘Lakhbir Singh, 39, a resident of Uttam Nagar area in west Delhi, was arrested from his home Friday,’ said a senior police officer.
Singh, posing as Rakesh Kumar, duped Shinder Minhas, a Punjab resident, of Rs.3.10 lakh by promising him a Canadian work permit.
‘Minhas approached Lakhbir Singh who told him that he could arrange the permit for Rs.8 lakh. Minhas, who is an ex-army personnel, gave him a sum of Rs.3.10 lakh,’ said the officer.
Singh later gave Minhas photocopy of a Canadian visa which turned out to be fake.
Police are investigating if Singh was running a racket in fake visas.
