One person has been arrested after a country-made weapon and ammunition were seized from his possession during a routine traffic checking drive in Rohini. “30-year-old Shiv Kumar, a resident of Rajiv Nagar Extension in Begampur, was arrested yesterday when he was signalled to stop by Traffic police during the speed checking drive at Rithala-Barwala road,” Joint CP (Traffic) Satyendra Garg said. At around 1 PM, Kumar was signalled to stop as he was driving his motorcycle without a helmet. He, however, tried to escape but was apprehended at Rohini traffic circle after a brief chase. “During a search, he was found to have a country-made weapon of .315 bore and two cartridges. During interrogation, Kumar revealed that he hails from Baghpat district of UP and allegedly got this weapon from his father,” Garg said. According to police, he was carrying the weapon to threaten his wife and her family, who were staying in Anand Parbat. “He was carrying the weapon to intimidate his wife and in-laws to bring back his wife and children to his house,” the official said.
