Hyderabad, April 17: A person who was involved in cloning of IMEI numbers of Chinamade mobiles was arrested from Jagadish market today. City police said that Zaheer Ali Khan, who has been doing mobile phone business at Jagadish market, learned skills of cloning IMEI numbers, on being advised by his friend as his income was insufficient.
Tracking cell phone will become difficult once the IMEI number is tampered. This will help unsocial elements using cell phones for their illegal activities. IMEI number is unique to every instrument and is given by the manufacturer. “Zaheer used to charge Rs 300 from each customer for activating the cloned IMEI number. He used to clone the numbers with help of Spiderman software,” Hyderabad police commissioner AK Khan said.
