Rajkot, April 27: A Rajkot businessman allegedly got himself murdered so that his family could get an insurance money of Rs 2 crore, police said today.
Yogesh Patoliya was found murdered at Morbi Road near here some eight months ago.
The bizarre insurance crime came to light when Crime Branch arrested Patoliya’s former employee and friend, Navghan Sindhav, for the murder.
Investigations revealed that Patoliya had suffered huge losses in his business and was under heavy debt. Patoliya hatched a plan and got himself a life insurance cover of nearly Rs 2 crore.
The businessman then sought help from Sindhav and allegedly asked him to murder him so that his family could get the insurance money, police said.
Sindhav agreed and killed Patoliya. Patoliya’s family, however, did not get the insurance amount, they said.
Patoliya had paid Rs 90,000 to Sindhav for his own murder, police said.
