Man found murdered in Morbi village; five others go missing

Rajkot, August 04: The charred body of a migrant agricultural labourer was found at Vanadiya village in Morbi taluka of Rajkot district on Monday.

The Rajkot Rural police are on the trail of a woman, a couple and two children, who have gone missing since the incident.

The deceased has been identified as Deepak Thakor (30).

Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased had eloped with a married woman and migrated to Morbi two years ago from their native village of Maanpur in Patan district.

The police learnt from the villagers that the Thakors shared the accommodation with another couple and their child.

The woman, her child, the other couple and their child are also missing.

The police have also found some charred remains of a woman’s dress, and therefore, they do not rule out the possibility of another murder.

“The postmortem report has revealed that Thakor was first strangulated and then his body was burnt.

Later, his body was dumped at his house in the village,” said the police.

“Everyone else who lived with him is missing,” the police added.

The police have expressed doubt that Thakor might have not been married to the woman.

In fact, the police expressed possibility that she was married to someone else, and that her illicit relationship could have been a motive behind the gruesome murder. The woman’s family members are under suspicion. The Rajkot Rural police will now go to Patan for further investigation.
