A person, who was brought to police station in a criminal case, died under suspicious circumstances here today.
Police said in a dowry harassment case, police brought T Shankar (31) to the Machavaram Police Station.
Sometime later, he fell unconscious. He was immediately shifted to the Government Hospital where he was declared dead. Knowing this, the relatives of the deceased complained that he was tortured by the police in the station. However, the police denied the charge.
Meanwhile, District Collector ordered Revenue Divisional Officer, S Venkata Rao to conduct magisterial inquiry into the incident. UNI
