An Indian man dubbed by Kuwaiti newspapers “Romeo of India” brought his own end when he tried to burn a man and his wife, whom he had loved. The couple suffered from serious injuries.
The unidentified man had raided the apartment where the newly-wed Indian couple lives in Jahra area in the Gulf emirate.
He then began pouring petrol all over, unaware that he was soaking himself and rebuffing pleas by the man and his wife.
Just before he started the fire, he began screaming and swearing at the woman for dumping him and marrying some one else.
“He was not in a normal state…I jumped on him to prevent him from using the lighter, but it was too late,” the husband told police at hospital, where he was admitted with first degree burns.
The Arabic language daily Alanba newspaper said the woman also suffered from serious burns while the attacker died in hospital later.
“With his death, police are expected to close this case which involved attempted murder and arson,” it said.
