Ras Al Khaimah, June 23: Investigation into the death of an Asian tailor in RAK revealed that the 27-year-old died of a heart attack as he attempted to rape a housemaid in her sponsor’s house.
A source from the RAK Public Prosecution has confirmed that there was no criminality behind the death of the tailor who was found dead last Friday in the room of an Asian maid in Gubu area of RAK.
According to the police, the housemaid was in deep sleep when the deceased, who worked in a tailoring shop located near the home of the Emirati sponsor of the maid, allegedly sneaked into her room to molest her.
The maid told the police that she woke up from her sleep suddenly and saw a strange man beside her in her bed, touching her. The maid reportedly pushed the man away in self defence to avoid being raped.
She ran to the bathroom in fear and locked herself in for almost one hour, waiting for the man to leave her room. The maid said that since she did not hear any sound, she thought the man had left and she came out of the bathroom.
She was however surprised to see the man lying on the floor. She immediately rushed to the main house and informed her employer about the incident.
The Emirati employer came to the maid’s room and found out that the tailor was dead. He informed the police who rushed to the scene and transferred the tailor’s body to the hospital.
The maid was apparently detained while the police carried out their investigations.
A forensic report however revealed that the Asian tailor died of a heart attack and there was no criminal attempt.
The doctors examined the housemaid and found there were no signs of rape.
