Man dies after son bludgeons him over sexual advances towards wife

New Delhi, May 28: In a shocking incident, a taxi driver bludgeoned his father to death at Jhungian village in Kharar. Angrej Singh, in his mid-50s, was mercilessly beaten up by his son Hardeep Singh (30), on Wednesday, but in absence of any medical help and even food, he died on Thursday, Kharar Sadar SHO Sub-Inspector Harsimran Singh Bal told.

Preliminary police investigations revealed that Hardeep was upset over the alleged sexual advances of his father towards his wife. Hardeep got married nearly a year ago and the couple has six-month-old twin daughters.

Investigations revealed that Hardeep remained away from home most of the time and in his absence, his alcoholic father used to physically harass his wife. “Recently, Angrej even offered Rs 500 to his daughter-in-law, while trying to get intimate with her, but she resisted the move and complained to her husband. Since then, Hardeep was nursing a grudge against his father,” said the SHO.

Angrej’s septuagenarian father Rulda Singh told the police that on Wednesday, he brought Angrej home, who was found in an inebriated state in Kharar. “No sooner I took him home, Hardeep started beating him with an iron rod, till he fell unconscious,” said Rulda.

According to him, Hardeep later poured two buckets of water on Angrej after putting him on a charpoy. “He did not take Angrej to any hospital; he did not give him food or water for an entire day and night,” Rulda accused his grandson.

Around 7.30 am Thursday, said Rulda, Hardeep saw Angrej’s deteriorating condition and gace him a glass of water. After consuming that, Angrej breathed his last. On Rulda’s complaint, Hardeep was booked on the charge of ‘culpable homicide not amounting to murder’ under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code. He, however, has not been arrested.

The body was shifted to Kharar Civil Hospital, where a board of doctors would conduct an autopsy on Friday.
