Man dies after car rams into iron rod loaded truck

Chandigarh, Nov 18: A 43-year-old Panchkula resident died in an accident near the Kalagram traffic signal on Tuesday night.

Liquor distributor Roopak Dutta was driving home from Chandigarh around 11.40 pm when his Maruti car rammed into a truck from behind. The truck was loaded with iron rods.

He was rushed to PGI, where he was declared dead on arrival.

“Since there was no reflector attached to the protruding iron rods, the car driver probably did not see them,” Pratap Singh, Station House Officer of the Manimajra police station, said.

The truck driver, who fled from the spot, has been booked under sections 279, 337 and 304-A of the IPC.
