Mumbai, March 27: The Azad Maidan police on Friday detained a man in the murder of moneylender Alpesh Jain on Tuesday. The man had committed robberies in the area where Jain was found dead.
Bhaurao Bhawale, senior inspector, said fingerprints found from the victim’s apartment indicated that more than one person may have been involved in the murder. “We have put 14 men on the job and crime branch is also conducting parallel investigations,” said Bhawale.
Two days after Jain was found dead at his office in Dhobi Talao, about 40 traders from the region have decided to increase security measures to prevent such incidents. Viren Shah, president of Federation of Retail Trade Welfare Association said, Jain’s murder has sent shockwaves among traders.
