Man, declared proclaimed offender, arrested in Delhi

New Delhi, February 08: A 24-year-old man, declared a proclaimed offender in several cases including a gangrape case, was arrested in Outer Delhi, police said today.

Jitender alias Golu was apprehended from Sultanpuri during a police patrolling, Chhaya Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer), said.

“He was sitting with two of his friends. When they saw police, they tried to run away but were overpowered,” she said, adding that the two others were identified as Vikas (21) and Madan Lal (21).

A countrymade pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from Jitender.

During interrogation, Sharma claimed, it came to light that Jitender was absconding in at least six cases, including that of a gangrape in Punjabi Bagh last August.

He along with his friend Karan allegedly raped a woman who was on her way to her house from Paschim Vihar.
