London, March 20: A Man will appear in court charged with the murder of a woman whose decomposed body was found in a suitcase in Birmingham, UK, in 2006.
Banaz Mahmod, 20, disappeared from her family home in Mitcham, south London, in January 2006 and her body was discovered in Handsworth, Birmingham, three months later, Sky News reported.
Omar Hussain, 30, from Smethwick, Birmingham, will appear at Greenwich Magistrates’ Court on Saturday charged with her murder.
He is also charged with the attempted kidnap of Rahmat Suleimani, Mahmod’s boyfriend, and with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Mahmod began a relationship with Suleimani after leaving an unhappy arranged marriage.
Her father, Mahmod Mahmod, uncle Ari Mahmod and a third man, Mohamad Hama, were jailed for life in 2007 for the so-called “honor” killing.
Suleimani was deemed unsuitable because he did not come from the small group of villages in Iraqi Kurdistan where the Mahmods originated.
