A 50-year-old man allegedly killed his wife over an altercation on Thursday and then ended his life at a village in the district, police said.
Katta Kishan, a resident of Edurugatla village, nearly 40 kms, allegedly killed his wife Katta Rama, 48, and then committed suicide, Vemulawada police circle inspector G Madhavi said.
Kishan and Rama had a heated argument over some issue at their residence this morning and in a fit of rage, Kishan hit his wife with a hammer on the head, the officer said, adding that on seeing Rama lying in a pool of blood, Kishan fled from the spot.
When neighbours came to know about the incident, they rushed Rama to a nearby hospital where she died while en-route.
On learning about his wife’s death, Kishan allegedly committed suicide by climbing up on a pole of an electricity transformer and came in contact with a high-tension wire.
Police said the reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained and the both the bodies have been send to government hospital at Sircilla for post-mortem.
