Cuddalore, July 07: Tension gripped the Government General Hospital here when a middle-aged man came for treatment with a snake that bit him, today.
Police said the man, S Palani (45), was working in a paddy field at Thottithoppu village, about 25 km from here, under the Centrally-sponsored Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana scheme, when a venomous rat snake bit him.
Braving the bite, the man mustered enough courage and caught hold of the snake, even as locals called up Tamil Nadu Government’s “108 Ambulance” service for emergency treatment.
He carried the snake with him to the Government hospital, where he was being treated.
The snake was recovered from him and kept in a isolated place. It would be released in the wild later.
Doctors were baffled to see the man carrying the snake.
Tension prevailed for sometime in the hospital.
