One Rama Rao, member of the ‘Jai Uttara Andhra Rakshana Vedika’ has climbed atop a high hoarding and created commotion, demanding special Railway Zone for the Visakhapatnam region.
Talking to the TV channels over cell phone while perching precariously on the hoarding, Rama Rao has alleged that the Visakha region was continuously being ignored by the Railway Ministry. He said that while the Telangana leaders were prohibiting the North Coastal people to come to Hyderabad to seek employment, all the railway jobs were being snatched by the people of Odisha. “Where should we go for employment? The educated youth of this region were being forced to do petty jobs”, he complained.
Police and officials rushed to the spot and tried to persuade the person to come down. Even his mother came to the spot and was seen appealing to the media with tears rolling down her cheeks, to some how get him down.
Finally, district minister Ghanta Srinivasa Rao arrived at the spot and on his appeal, Rama Rao came down. The incident occurred at the Ambedkar statue near the LIC building in the city. (NSS)
