Man behind Bigg Boss, Khataron Ke Khiladi quits as Endemol Shine India MD

Mumbai: Deepak Dhar who rose to fame exhibiting his talent with the famous reality shows like Bigg Boss and Khataron Ke Khiladi has called it quits as Endemol Shine India’s MD.

Netherland-headquartered Endemol productions hired him as a creative director under then CEO Rajesh Kamat when it started operations in India in 2006. Since then Deepak has been serving the famous production house until now when he his willingly leaving the company as MD to start up his own content company.

He was named the Endemol’s Managing Director of India after Rajesh Kamat quit to join Viacom 18 as a head in 2008.

An industry source close to Deepak told, “Deepak has resigned as he wants to start his own content company”.

During his term in Endemol India, the production has won over 20 awards producing nearly 40 shows yearly.

CA Media in 2012 has bought 49% of Endemol’s India in 2012.

The CA Media owned by Peter Chernin later merged with India investments with KKR’s fund Emerald Media.

Meanwhile, Endemol in 2015 merged with 21st Century Fox Group’s Shine forming Endemol Shine Group which was later renamed as Endemol Shine India.

The company had already owned few of famous show formats like So You Think You Can Dance, Big Brother (Bigg Boss in India), Fear Factor (Khataron Ke Khiladi), MasterChef, The Voice, Deal or No Deal and many more even before the merger.
