A woman was seriously injured after husband allegedly beat her up for refusing to give him money to buy liquor at a village in Jajpur district, the police said today.
The accused, Dayanidhi Nath (43) of Choramunhan village under Dharmasala police station, fled after the incident on Tuesday night.
The 38-year-old victim sustained serious injuries on her head and limbs, police said adding seriously injured woman was first taken to the local government hospital and later shifted to S.C.B.Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after her condition deteriorated, the police said.
Dayanidhi is a habitual drinker and would often ask money from his wife to buy liquor and harass her if she did not oblige.
On Tuesday night, Dayanidhi came home in an inebriated state and demanded that his wife pay him for buying liquor and she refused. An enraged Dayanidhi then beat her with a stick, the police said adding search is on to arrest him.
