Man beaten to death over theft

New Delhi, April 21: A 40-year-old shop employee was thrashed to death by his employer at a shop in Chandni Chowk in the walled city area here Thursday evening, police said.

“Narendra, employed at Ahuja Sons shop in Chandni Chowk area for last seven months, was brutally beaten by his employer and left bleeding,” said a senior police officer. He was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

During preliminary investigation, police found that there was a fire incident at the shop and a few items were missing. “After the employer found through the closed circuit television camera footage that Narendra was involved, he brutally thrashed him, leading to his death,” said the officer.

The victim’s son Shiva told police that an unidentified man came to his house and said that his father was unwell at the shop. “When he along with his mother reached there, he found that his father was beaten up by a few people including the employer,” said the officer.

Deputy Commissioner of Police S.S. Yadav said, “We are investigating the matter and a case has been registered.”
