Hyderabad, April 08: An accused in two murders that took place in Rajendranagar last year was murdered in broad daylight at the King Koti hospital by his rivals.
In what appeared to be a pre-planned murder, the accused called him near the hospital, attacked him with knives, daggers and an axe killing him instantly.
Five persons who were allegedly involved in the killing were nabbed by the police within a few hours. Police said land and money disputes were the reasons behind the murder.
Deputy commissioner of police, Central Zone, Akun Sabharwal said the victim Syed Sohail (28) and his associate Shaikh Ahmed came to the King Koti hospital at Narayanaguda around 10 a.m. on their bike after receiving a call from a woman, suspected to be the wife of one of the accused.
When the duo reached the hospital, unidentified persons who were waiting for them attacked Sohail with knives, daggers and an axe and fled away. Sohail died immediately.
Police rushed to the spot with the clues team and sniffer dogs and started investigation. City police commissioner AK Khan also visited the scene of the crime.
“Sohail had shouted the names of a few of the accused before his death and they were reported to us by eye-witnesses,” the DCP said. Police nabbed the key accused, Syed Hyder Hussain, and four others with the help of the eye-witness accounts. The other four are Hamid Ali, Mohammed Moshin, Sheik Imtiaz and Mohammed Saleem, all residents of Rajendranagar.
The DCP said that the murder was a result of a rivalry between two groups over land and monetary matters. Syed Sohail was the prime accused in the murder of Syed Jaffer Hussain which occurred in July, 2010 at Himayatsagar and murder of Syed Haji in February 2010 at Indira Nagar, Rajendranagar.
“We are also investigating into the role of the woman, one of the accused’s wife, who made the call to the victim asking him to come to the King Koti hospital. The main accused Syed Hyder Hussain is the elder brother of Syed Jaffer Hussain. To avenge his brother’s killing he allied with the members of the Mumtaz group and murdered Sohail,” Sabharwal said.
Police seized an auto, three motor cycles, four daggers, three knives and an axe from the accused. Narayanaguda police registered cases under sections 302 (murder) and are investigating.
