Ongole, June 30: In yet another atrocity on women, a B.Ed student Marella Nagamani, was attacked by her beau, Gummadi Kumar Babu, right inside her house in the town Monday. Babu inflicted deep injuries in Nagamani’s neck, right hand and the right shoulder with a sickle. The girl was immediately shifted to the Ongole General Hospital where the doctors said she was out of danger.
According to Ongole police, Nagamani, a student of Qis Ccollege in Ongole and a resident of Mungamuri Donka in the town, was reportedly in love with Babu, an M.Com student at the PG Centre of the Acharya Nagarjuna University at Ongole.
However, Nagamani, reportedly told Babu that she would be unable to marry him as she was diagnosed as a diabetic recently.
Later, Kumar went into a depression.
Instead of sympathising with her lady love, he bore a grudge against her in the last few days.
In a planned attack Monday, Babu went to Nagamani’s house when her parents were away and attacked her with a sickle when she refused to marry him. The Ongole police said they received a complaint and a search was on for the accused.
