New Delhi: A man in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, was arrested for throwing the body of his 13-year-old daughter in the Narmada river after she committed suicide, the police said on Friday.
Ajju Singh Lodhi, the father, was arrested on charges of destruction of evidence.
Chargawan police station In-charge, Rajendra Bagi, told reporters that Lodhi belonged to Bijauri village and had lodged a missing complaint on Thursday about his daughter.
After the police enquired about the matter with locals, it emerged that Lodhi in an inebriated condition, engaged in a brawl with his wife, who works in an Anganwadi, and his older daughter early on Wednesday.
Following the incident, his wife left for work and on returning she found that their daughter was hanging from the ceiling fan.
Lodhi later told the police that he was afraid to report the matter, and therefore he threw the body of his daughter in the river. The search for the body is still continuing.
