Lucknow: A 44-year old man was recently arrested in Gonda District on Wednesday for allegedly threatening the 15-year-old younger sister of a rape victim who was raped three months ago by his nephew.
The father of the 17-year-old rape victim lodged the complaint at Kaurhia Police station alleging that the accused Phoolman on Tuesday morning stopped his younger daughter and allegedly threatened and abused her, asking her to make her family withdraw the case or face consequences. The girl was her on way to school said Gonda SP Umesh Kumar Singh.
A case was registered on Tuesday against the 44-year-old accused Phoolman under IPC sections 352 (punishment for assault or criminal force otherwise than on grave provocation) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace). The SP added the accused was arrested on Wednesday.
The 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped three months back on July 5 by a 22-year-old Firoz of the same village. His cousin Naushad later took the victim to Mumbai where she was kept at his friends place.
Investigation Officer (IO) of the case Shiv Sharan Gaur said, “A case was lodged on July 6 against Firoz, Naushad and five others, including Firoz’s parents, uncle Phoolman under IPC sections 363 (kidnapping), 366 (abducting or inducing woman to compel her for marriage). The girl was later traced and brought to Gonda after a few days. In her statement recorded before the magistrate, she alleged Firoz raped her while Naushad forcibly took her to Mumbai”.
He further added that the girl’s medical examination report then had not confirmed the sexual assault, however, “On the basis of her statement, names of three more accused were added in the FIR. These three were friends of Naushad who had helped him get a shelter for keeping the girl in Mumbai. Firoz was booked under IPC Section 376 (rape) and section 3/4 of Prevention Of Children from Sexual Offences Act, besides 506 (criminal intimidation),” IO Gaur said.
IO Gaur also stated that accused Firoz and two others were arrested then, but Firoz’s parents were not arrested.
Firoz is currently in custody while the two others were released on bail. Accused’s uncle Phoolman was also supposed to get arrested but he managed to get a stay order against his arrest from High Court added IO Gaur.
