New Delhi, April 29: A minor girl was allegedly raped by a 60-year-old shopkeeper in west Delhi and the suspect has been arrested, police said today.
The incident took place in Uttam Nagar area yesterday afternoon.
The eight-year-old victim had gone to the shop of Hira Lal where he allegedly raped her.
“Lal asked her to come inside on the pretext of giving her toffees. She went inside the shop where Lal raped her and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to anyone,” a senior police official said.
The incident came to light when the girl returned home and narrated the incident to her parents who took her to the police station and lodged a complaint.
Police took the girl to a government hospital where a medical examination confirmed rape. Lal was arrested.
