New Delhi: A man has been arrested for murdering his wife, who has been living separately with another person, after she refused to reconciliate with him, police said today.
The woman, Shahana, got married to Chiraguddin, a resident of Amorah in Uttar Pradesh, around nine years ago and had two children.
“Chiraguddin, an e-rickshaw driver, used to visit his house in Amroha occasionally. Shahana wanted to live with her husband in Delhi and insisted on shifting to Delhi with him but he refused,” said DCP (Central) Mandeep Singh Randhawa.
She met with one Nasir about a year ago and soon she shifted to Delhi with him and got married. She also took away both the children with her, the officer said.
Chiraguddin tried to convince her to get back with him, but she refused to budge to his demands, the DCP said, adding on March 29, he met her near Chandni Chowk and again requested her to come back to him.
When she refused, he took her to a deserted place near Rajghat in his e-rickshaw. During an argument there Chiraguddin allegedly stabbed her on the neck and stomach with a knife and fled from there, Randhawa said.
The body was recovered on March 30 and the accused arrested from G B Road yesterday. The weapon used in the crime was also seized from him, police said.
