Man arrested for jumping parole

Bhiwani: A man, who was serving life term for killing former chairman of Bhiwani Municipal Council Ramesh Masta 13 years ago and had jumped parole, was today arrested along with his four accomplices, Haryana Police said.

Rahul alias Shashi Pratap, serving his prison term in the Karnal district jail, had come out on parole of 42 days on March 1 but was absconding since April 12, a senior police official said.

Apart from Rahul, police also arrested Virender alias Pinky, Akash alias Illu, Varun alias Vicky and Manavsharma who had allegedly opened fire on son of Ramesh, Puneet Masta on April 29.

Police also recovered a nine mm, two .315 bore and a .32 bore country-made pistols along with 15 cartridges and one car from their possession.

Accused Virender alias Pinky is wanted by the Haryana Police since 2015. He had jumped the bail in a case registered at Bhiwani.

Similarly, accused Akash alias Illu, had been sentenced to life imprisonment in a case registered at Bhiwani, and was on bail from the high court in the case.

During preliminary interrogations, these accused confessed that their motive was to eliminate one of the citizens of Bhiwani and also to strengthen their gang and increase its members.
